The company began operations in September 1946 at 1010 North 19th Street, Tampa, Florida. The manufacturing plant, with over 130,000 square feet of completely automated facilities, included an alkyd resin plant, an aerosol packaging plant and a completely equipped and staffed research laboratory.
In October 1970, the company opened a manufacturing plant in Puerto Rico. HARRIS PAINTS in Puerto Rico has expanded during the past 40 years to keep pace with requirements of residential, commercial and industrial users, painting contractors and retail sales at paint dealers. Over 3,000,000 gallons and 6,000,000 aerosol cans of HARRIS PAINTS are produced annually to meet demand in its over 110,000 square feet facilities for local and export markets.
HARRIS PAINTS was acquired in June 1990 by THE BLANCO GROUP, which at the time, comprised of four paint-manufacturing companies. The group is presently the largest paint, adhesives, sealants and solvents manufacturer, supplier and distributor in the Caribbean, Southeastern US, and Central America with subsidiaries recently completed in Costa Rica and Orlando, Florida, and Santo Domingo. THE BLANCO GROUP has aggressively invested in a top Research and Development program that assures a leadership position in cutting-edge technology and innovation.
In 1990 the BLANCO GROUP was awarded by the government of Puerto Rico the prize of Exporter of the Year with customers in the mainland such as: The Home Depot, General Motors, Wal-Mart, Kmart and Sears. HARRIS PAINTS holds the only aerosol packaging facility for paints in the Southeastern U.S.
The HARRIS Paints complex, located in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, consists of two major structures straddling a highway in the Minillas Industrial Park zone. On the Eastern side are administrative offices, 65,000 sq ft of finished product /distribution warehouse space and a state-of-the-art aerosol packaging facility.

To the West, crossing the street is HARRIS’s 40,000 sq ft, modern paint manufacturing facility, where paint products are formulated, mixed and packaged.
Spray / Aerosol Manufacturing
HARRIS PAINTS is the one and only manufacturing and packaging facility in the Caribbean for Spray / Aerosol Products. Over 6 million cans of aerosol paint is produced each year at this Bayamón plant.
Quality Control Laboratory
Also located in the HARRIS PAINTS Bayamón’s complex is our Quality Control Lab, where all paint products are subject to a rigorous process of tests assuring quality. consistency, and adherence to pre-determined specifications. These analyses are conducted before and after batch productions. The lab also dedicates itself to the formulation new products as well as improving existing ones.

Since June 19, 1990 to present, Mr. Blanco has made Harris Paints the leader in the paint industry of Puerto Rico. With a new vision of success and goals, Mr. Blanco did not hesitate to update all the manufacturing equipment; including tanks and the CQ and R&D laboratories. Harris Paints was able to increase and improve production, volume and quality with this new technology.
Under these new standards, Harris Paints became a leading competitor in the market, going against top brands. Today, Harris Paints is one of the most successful paint companies in the Caribbean and the United States.
Starting as an accountant, Mr. Guzman has been with the company for 25 years and today is Harris Paints’ CPA and Comptroller.
Having knowledge and experience in almost all the key areas, including manufacturing and sales, has made of Mr. Guzman a key figure for Harris Paints and The Blanco Group.
In charge of a group of 12 salespeople, Mr. Olascoaga is responsible for the sales and distribution of Harris Paints products in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, USA and Latin America.
Retail stores such as Home Depot, Wal-Mart and K-Mart are just a few of the many clients who look to Harris Paints to supply them with first class service and products. As sales manager, Mr. Olascoaga has the responsibility of providing the customer with quality and service, which has always been our main goal.
Responsible for the schedule and manufacture of Harris Paints products, including aerosols, solvent based and water based paints. As a Production Manager Mr. Rosado does more than supervise the paint manufacture, he, and his crew, also perform maintenance of the plant and equipment. Mr. Rosado supervises a team of approximately 30 employees.
As warehouse supervisor, Mr. Rodríguez is responsible for keeping the finished goods inventory, receiving orders and scheduling delivery to clients around Puerto Rico. Mr. Rodríguez has been with the company for more than 20 years, making him a very valuable member of the Harris Paints team.
